epic.SEVENTEEN - Day Two

It's always nice to know that we're giving you guys a great LAN experience, and this morning proved that once again we listen to all your comments and push for the best. All across the Gallery you could see people tucking in to fry ups and sipping on cuppas with smiles on their faces - the size of the queue speaks for itself! We're more than impressed with KCC's offerings so far and if you want to give us your two cents then head on over to the Forums and leave some feedback.

Competitve gaming was in the spotlight in both Fairisle and Lakeside today, with a CS:GO fun tournament being rolled out with a full server and the start of both the CS:GO and DOTA2 competitive tournament rounds. Lots of you chose to tune in on the Central Stream and Twitch to catch the action as it happened and the support from both the UK DOTA scene and the UK CS:GO scene was a nice touch to two already highly anticipated tournaments.

Friday at epic17 also saw gaming charity SpecialEffect join us to show off some of their incredible work in the way that they adapt hardware to allow anyone access to their favourite titles and makes the gaming community at large more inclusive. Lots of you dropped in to see how they modified controllers to enable you to use your chin or eyes to navigate through a game such as Dirt. Not only was the demonstration fascinating from a technological point of view, but it also put in to perspective how important it is to not feel limited by your phsycial abilities when it comes to doing something that you really love. If you would like to know more about SpecialEffect, then visit their website and twitter or you can check out the Interview JoeShow did with Barry Floyd over on our YouTube channel. A big thanks to all of you who donated some of your hard earned money to SpecialEffect during the event, every donation goes towards some truly inspiring work that could change someone's life.

And Friday evening ended, as it often does, with the epic.PubQuiz hosted by Winbar, JoeShow, Beej and Gunmens. Including a round dedicated to Nicolas Cage, a sudden appearance of a mexican wrestler and a damn good rendition of "Let it Go", the quiz had 14 teams competing to win a prize pot that totalled over £90. But let's be honest, there are no losers when Winbar resorts to charades in a quiz round. And what better to follow the pub quiz than a staff v punters boat race. Now we're not saying that the punters had an advantage, but there was a definite lack of the staff team's usual 'secret weapon' MurrayMint. With that said, everyone seemed to enjoy the usual banter that comes with the quiz and for those of you who couldn't be there in person you will find all the action on our Twitch channel - you just might want to turn the volume down if you tune in!
