News :: epic20 Dota 2 Tournament Preview
It’s not often that players from the UK get to show off their DotA 2 abilities in a LAN environment, with very few players from the region having an impact on the professional scene. But the game has found a growing fanbase in the UK in recent years, becoming the third most popular game played by Steam users in the country...
epic20 is once again hosting a Dota 2 tournament with a chance to win up to £3000 on the line and with nearly 10 teams signed up for the event, it looks to be one of the most competitive competitions yet. One of the bigger names in the event this year is Perilous Ruin, a team that features the 7K MMR Rime along with previous epicLan winners MagicTurtle and jthwaites. It will be interesting to see if this powerhouse team can live up to the hype that their previous achievements create.
The tournament will be a group stage featuring two groups of 4 battling it out in order to secure top spot. Once the groups are over the tournament switches to double elimination format with teams either going straight through the upper bracket if they win and dropping into the lower bracket if they lose.
Another of the teams in the tournament is Impulse Gaming, an organisation that spans across several games but has a nearly fully British Dota 2 team. Impulse will be looking to win their first LAN as a team here at epic20 but face stiff competition from all across the board. It will be interesting to see how the professional dynamic that this team has, comes across in an offline tournament format.
This tournament proves to be one of the most fiercely contested in recent years of epicLan with some of the best teams in the UK scene competing, it is not to be missed.
