Interview with a DJ

Moving on from pretend DJ'ing with this to the real thing.

So you're booked for epic.THREE and you will have seen that we have not one but two guest DJ's playing live sets at the event! Wondering what you can expect from them? To settle your nerves I have personally hunted down the elusive DJ Haden. I say elusive, all you have to do is create a new facebook group and Haden will join!

Anyway back on topic, hit the Read More link below to read our interview with the first of our DJs for epic.THREE.

Our first DJ is Tom Haden who is 19 and in his first year studying Software Engineering at Swansea Uni. He's put down his hobbies as DJ'ing, LANs, cars and gaming, and with the main ones being LAN's and DJ'ing, a LAN where he can show off his DJ skills is quite an exicting prospect for Tom.

Tom has around 4 years DJ'ing skills to his belt, but only very recently breaking out to do his own gigs, (clearly just a bedroom raver before!). Starting out with private functions and then expanding to online radio and some more recent appearances on FM radio. Tom is also the resident DJ for a number of local venues, with a fair bit of traveling on public transport between his home town of Worcester and and his uni home Swansea.

Other than DJ'ing at a LAN Party, his most random place to DJ was a beach party in Devon with a random track request of Village people - Megamix. Having upgraded to CD's to keep his collection because of the weight of all the vinyl records, clearly Haden needs gym membership as well.

Hadens five desert island albums/tracks would be:

  • Sub Focus - Rock It
  • Pendulum - Fasten Your Seatbelts
  • Tiesto ft BT - Love Comes Again
  • Faithless - God Is A DJ
  • Chase & Status ft Plan B - Pieces

In terms of gaming, Haden's first computer was one of Sir Alan's Amstrads. His first lan was CLUK 16 after stumbling across the website and after being impressed at the quality of the CLUK events has followed the team to their new home of epic.LAN. After attending 9 LANs himself he clearly loves them as he managed to secure two seats for the sold out event epic.LITE for himself and his younger brother's first event.

Hadens five desert island games:

  • Counter Strike: Source
  • DiRT 2
  • Armagetron Advanced
  • Team Fortress 2
  • Left 4 Dead 2

I asked about his entry for the decorate your desk mini competition being run at epic.THREE and while being reluctant to give way any secrets for what his up coming creation would be. He hinted that it would include a clothes horse!  And while on the topic of horses, Haden is planning on showing a remix of a classic flash movie (maybe not worksafe!).

The final thing from Haden is to post on here with requests for music for his set and if you really love the set his favourite drink is Blue Lagoon cocktail (which I have no idea if ther bar even does these).
