News :: epic.TEAM Dreamhack Coverage Day 1
Well the epic journey to Dreamhack has begun!. The epic.LAN team of Murray-Mint, Winbar and Saboo joined Cheez as well as Wizzo & BugAlugs from MPUK on the trek from Heathrow T5 to the Elmia in Jonköping in Sweden.
The team trip started at 4am this morning, picking up Murray-Mint from Gloucester and then joining Saboo and Cheez at Gordon Ramsey's Plane Food in T5 early this morning for some high quality NOM. Though I was quite disappointed to find that there was no yelling and swearing from the kitchen, we assume that Gordon wasn't on duty today. The NOM was damn fine, and was proceeded by a trip to collect the essential Union Jacks to decorate our desk and a stop-off at JD Wetherspoons to warm up for the flight. Of course we should mention that Wizzo & BugAlugs were enjoying the T5 Galleries lounge at this point and somehow managed to arrange a form of hax that allowed them to step directly out of the lounge and onto the plane...
After a short flight, which arrived earlier than planned, we arrived at the brand new Stockholm Arlanda T5 which was so new they hadn't quite worked out how to get the baggage from the plane to the carousel in a reasonable amount of time, thus negating the 25minute saving from the tail-wind *sigh*.
Thanks to the strange SJ trains booking system, it was far cheaper for us to head from Stockholm Central to Jonköping on a train 3 hours after landing, however we just managed to spend around £250 between us in the Sports Bar in Stocholm Central on beer and fajitas.
That brings us to right now...we're currently abusing first class on the X2000 train. Murray, Winbar, BugAlugs and Saboo are still conscious; Wizzo and Cheez seem to have gone bodycount already and are currently sucking the remainder of the oxygen from the cabin. Somehow we need to change trains in about 2 hours to move on towards the hotel ready for a few more beers and some sleep before we hit the world's biggest computer festival tomorrow.
Remember, for more coverage you can check out our gallery and the epic.LAN Twitter feed throughout the weekend to find out what we're up to. Bear in mind that the train wireless is SLOOOOWWW so photos may take some time!
