News :: Boat Race
The epic.TWELVE boat race saw 14 players per team battling it out, as usual we had epic.TEAM Vs epic.CUSTOMERS. The epic.TEAM got off to a strong start with our strongest players edging out a lead. However in the mid section the teams started to even out as the customers caught up with us. It was then nip and tuck all the way to the end when Kane, who was determind to win snatched victory for the epic.TEAM! Thanks to all who joined it as always it was great entertainment and your achievements will be awarded shortly. If you entered the race and don't have your achievement please let the epic.TEAM know so we can add it to your collection.
The boat race one of our traditional games played at epics saw this events epic.TEAM well and truely beaten by the GamerFM side! Needless to say the epic.TEAM are a little saddened at our defeat despite a cracking start by our boat race champion Murray-Mint! We are however good sports so offer a well done to the Gamer FM team for their pint guzzling victory!
We have another sponsorship announcement for you, and this time, we're proud to say we've achieved the impossible by getting a Scotsman to buy the drinks!
So at epic.SIX, we can confirm that as well as attending with their famous LAN shop, Kustom will be sponsoring the boat race, literally by getting the drinks in for the participants. So all you'll need to do is take part in the boat race!
The boat race is the ultimate test of the gamer. Two teams face off, each armed with a pint of their chosen (alcoholic) beverage. When the race starts, the first two opposing team members start their drink and as soon as the glass is empty it is placed upturned on the participants head, at this point the next team member starts their drink and it continues down the line until the whole team has finished their drinks.
The boat race will take place in the evening on the Saturday of the event after the quiz.
One of the highlights of the epic.LAN events is our Pub Quiz. By far the biggest 'tournament' of our events, the Saturday night regular feature in our timetable sees the majority of participants take part in a couple of hours of mental activity with one or two beers, giving a welcome break from all of the gaming!
The quiz takes place at 8pm in the main hall and is open to teams of up to 5 players. Each participant pays just £1 to take part and all of the money goes to the winning teams.
We can now confirm the following rounds for the epic.FOUR quiz:
Then after the quiz, it's our ultimate test of a real gamer, the boat race!
