Revamped Profiles Now Live

During the Community Workshops held at epic.THREE we received feedback on how to make the epic community better and help you all get to know each other that little bit more. One area that was discussed was giving everyone a little bit of background to the people you play online and chat in the forums with.

To kick it off, we started the epic.Statistics so that you could track how well you've played on our servers. The next stage was then to pull all of the information about you into one location, your profile.

We've all had a profile on the website since it launched but it was only used to display previous events and achievements. There were also two types; the main site profile and your phpBB profile on the forums.

The changes we've made:

  • Merged your forum profile into the main site (contact emails/website etc)
  • Linking your account to your statistics when you enter your Steam Id
  • Allowed you to add additional contact information (including adding each other directly to Steam Friends)
  • Allowed you to add background and rig information

The profile is updated from the My Account link on the main site navigation, so please have a look and let us know what you think. If you have any problems, drop us a message on the forums and we'll look into it for you. The forum control panel will still need to be used for managing your forum specific settings (time/date format, avatar and signature).

It is also worth pointing out that filling out the new look profiles is not mandatory and as default won't make public any more information about you than is already on the epic sites - the additional information can only be viewed by logged in members.

Vital Statistics

The great Johnny Vaughan and Denise Van Outen used to epic.LAN IRC statssing about vital statistics every day in The Big Breakfast; while their stats were less than vital, here are some MORE epic.Stats you just won't be able to live without.. well.. maybe..

For the last few weeks we have been monitoring our TF2, L4D and L4D2 servers. We have gathered some interesting statistics about how well you play, some better than others :)

So dive in and have a look, see if you can find yourself on our player listings and see who your worst enemies are so you can get revenge next time you play!

You Said, We Did - Our Improvements for epic.FOUR

FeedbackEvery event, we collect your feedback. For epic.THREE this was through speaking to people at the event, our surveys and from the forums.

We collect this feedback, not just to give you an opportunity to say what you thought about the event, but so that we can go away, consider it and make actual improvements to make sure that you all keep coming back to our LAN Parties.

However, we're also quite honest when there is feedback about something that either we cannot fix, or do not feel that changing that particular aspect would work for our events, we hope that you appreciate our being honest in these cases and explaining our reasoning.

We've now gone through all of your epic.THREE feedback with the team and also with the venue and can now confirm some of the improvements we'll be making for our next main LAN in July.

The Om Nom WTF BBQ at epic.FOUR

BBQIt wouldn't be a July LAN Party without a good helping of hot meat, and you know we don't like to disappoint!

Therefore, we're pleased to announce that we will be holding one of our almost famous BBQs at epic.FOUR on the Friday evening at around 7.

As usual, we will be ordering massive quantities of meat (and meat-themed substitutes) for your delectation and serving it up until you can't eat any more.

All we need you to do is go to your epic.FOUR Booking and add the BBQ Service. If you want to pay for that service now, that's great, if not then please do still add the service so we know how much meat to buy. If we start to run out at the event, then priority will go to those who have pre-booked!

If you haven't booked at all for epic.FOUR, then get on with it and remember to add the BBQ when you book!

Fun Plain Sight Tournament at epic.FOUR

Plain SightSuicidal ninja sword-wielding robots...

Such an obvious concept for a game! You play a robot character, collect energy from falling stars or by killing other robots with your sword, and when you've collected enough energy, you go suicidal in a giant explosion. The bigger the bang, the more points you get...simples!

We'll be running a fun Plain Sight tournament as part of the epic.FOUR LAN Party in July at Uttoxeter Racecourse. The exact game format is to be determined based on your feedback, but is likely to be selected from Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch or Capture the Flag.

If you don't already have Plain Sight, you can grab it now from Steam and you can also play on our own Plain Sight Server.

epic.lite 1 - With Added Meat

lite1 BBQIt seems you just can't resist our epic meat, so we've decided to add a second BBQ to epic.lite 1.

Our next event, epic.lite 1 (which sold out ages ago!) will now have two helpings of our hot meat, on Saturday and Sunday evenings during the LAN.

So if you want to nom on both servings, then please make sure you have at least added the extra service to your booking, it's fine to pay at the event if you'd prefer but we at least need the provisional booking to make sure we get enough food!

If you missed out on lite1, then we have a limited number of weekend spectator passes available, or alternatively, you can join us at our next LAN Party, epic.FOUR in July.
