The group schedule for the epic.EIGHT Tt eSports COD4 tournament is now live. For detailed coverage, take a look at Tek-9's epic.LAN page and remember that you'll be able to tune in to key matches and commentary as well as having a range of VoDs with QuadV.
Please help us to speed up the check-in process and keep the queues down by doing the following:
If you are planning on spectating the event, paying for a participant place on the door (if there are spaces remaining) or you have visitors coming to see you, please create a spectator booking on the system in advance, it's still fine to pay on the door, but will save time on the day.
Remember, the doors open at 4pm, if you arrive any earlier we'll have to ask you to wait outside or in the Railway Bar sleeping area.
On another note, please make sure you update your games before you attend to help us save bandwidth at the event.
See you in a few days! And don't forget to go through our handy checklist while you're packing to make sure you don't forget anything!
As part of our opening ceremony on Thursday night, around 8pm (though it usually ends up slipping until later), 4 of you could win a round of drinks from the bar from Winbar (yes, really!) AND 4x £5 epic.NINE discount vouchers, but you have to work for it!
Quite simply, all you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is perform Tenacious D - Tribute on Rock Band as part of the celebrations. Our panel of esteemed judges will then base the performance on style, control, damage and agr..... no wait...game score and overall performance.
So get some practice in, let's see those awesome Jack Black impressions on Thursday night!
At epic.EIGHT you will find our usual range of snacks and drinks to keep you going throughout the LAN at our Tuck Shops.
Our main shop will be located in Hall 2, with a smaller shop also in Hall 1 where you can purchase sugary goodness in the form of caffeine drinks, chocolate, biscuits and more, 24h a day with cash or using your event account.
We are extremely pleased to confirm that QuadV will be at epic.EIGHT providing expert coverage of the Call of Duty 4 Tournament!
The Call of Duty 4 community has rallied around to support this event, currently with 22 teams taking part, just 2 teams off the maximum and of course the £2500 prize trigger, with BYOC and TUP places still remaining!
Here's what the QuadV team had to say:
You know a LAN is getting close when the Kustom thread gets updated, it's part of the almost official mere countdown to LAN timeline thing.
Anyway, Graeme has now posted the official list of shiny and sugary things on sale at the event and don't forget you can also pre-order for delivery to the LAN via the Kustom website until Wednesday 15th February.
As well as the shop, Kustom will also be running a few competitions on his stand in Hall 1 including on the GT Omega Racing Seat as well as the 'Kustom Box Game Challenge' during the Pub Quiz which bears some slight resemblance to a box and deal based TV show hosted by a man with a beard and funny writing on the side of his hand. You could win an awesome prize, or you could even win your very own box!
There you go, head on over to the massive Kustom thread now!
If you run out of cash at the event, or you want to help budget your daily spend on all things caffeinated and sugary then don't forget we have our event accounts available.
Simply visit the intranet when you're at the event, go to the account top-up page and you can load your account with money from PayPal, Credit/Debit Card and that will be made available for you to spend at the epic.LAN Tuck Shop.
Note that the event accounts are not available to use at the catering van or the bar as these are externally operated.
One of the many reasons why we were keen to launch epic.RADIO was to help bring you another dimension to our LAN events and to get the people who can't be there closer to the fun!
So we can now reveal some of our plans for epic.RADIO to bring you live coverage throughout epic.EIGHT!
If you can't be there, make sure you keep an eye on epiclan.co.uk and epicradio.co.uk for all of the latest news throughout the event!
It's nearly time to lock the seating plan ready for epic.EIGHT!
On Thursday evening, the seating plan will be locked, meaning that people who are already sat won't be able to move on the plan, new bookings can still select a seat after paying.
This process is to allow us to 'defrag' the seating plan in order to close any gaps and minimise the number of empty tables, particularly has we have to pay to rent in every table, so there's no point renting them in to sit empty all weekend.
Therefore, you may find that you move during the defrag process, so make sure you have your clan tags all set the same as the people you want to sit by to avoid any upsets! If you find that during the process, you are split up, then please contact us to get it fixed.
Thanks to kind support from Intel, we still have a few Turn Up & Play (TUP) spaces remaining for epic.EIGHT, so if you want to attend, but can't get your PC there, here's a great option for you!
TUP tickets are £80 each, so that's your £57 event ticket plus just £23 for use of a PC for the weekend!
The TUP machines will need to stay in the allocated area, so they cannot be moved to other seats.
To book, simply select the TUP ticket for epic.EIGHT, if you've already booked BYOC and you want to convert, then contact us and we'll arrange for you to pay the difference.
