The epic.LAN Team invite you to join us for our 2011 trip to Alton Towers from Friday 23rd - Sunday 25th of September.
Join us on the Friday for some drinks and socialising followed by a trip to Alton Towers on the Saturday. We'll be having a BBQ after the trip on Saturday and on Sunday you can either take a trip to Waterworld or watch the F1 Singapore Grand Prix.
For more information and to book visit the Alton Towers 2011 page!
It's been a while since we've had a L4D2 tournament at epic.LAN, so it's back in our fun tournament programme in its Survival mode guise for epic.SIX.
The difference with this tournament is that you'll be able to play your matches at any time, all you'll need to do is take a screenshot of the results of your team playing our selection of maps (with some demos saved just to be sure) and submit them to our event FTP.
The teams with the best times on survival mode will be the winners! Full rules available at the event.
After working with us for the last two events, we're very pleased to confirm that the om nom nom catering van will be back again for the duration of epic.SIX.
We've always had consistent praise for the guys who have provided you with your meals for the last two events and they've listened carefully to all your comments and will be working throughout the event to try a range of different ideas to see what works during the LAN.
Once again they'll be located right outside the main entrance so you don't have to leave the site for your main meals if you're feeling lazy or only have time for a quick food stop between matches.
The deadline for cancellation of epic.SIX tickets has now passed. From this point we will only be able to refund event tickets if the event sells out and we are able to re-sell your place to another participant. The reason for the deadline is that by this point the majority of our event expenses have already been committed, such as tables and chairs all ordered and paid for based on the estimated number of people attending.
Unfortunately we have had to take the very difficult decision to cancel the epic.SIX Team Fortress 2 Tournament.
After giving the TF2 community plenty of notice to assemble sufficient teams, widely advertised via ETF2L and Vanilla TF2, with around one month to go prior to the event unfortunately we need to make this sad choice due to the lack of teams either currently signed up or in the process of making arrangements.
Unfortunately due to the short notice, we will not be able to introduce a replacement tournament game in time for epic.SIX, however we would be very interested to hear the thoughts of the competitive community for alternative games for epic.SEVEN and beyond, particularly in the RTS arena. If you have any suggestions, please do contact us with your ideas.
After their epic.LAN debut in February, we are very pleased to confirm that Gamer.FM will be back for epic.SIX in July.
Once again the Gamer.FM team will be broadcasting live from the event keeping the outside world up to date with what's happening as well as running competitions for event participants and an internal stream to their station.
And this time, we'll be handing over the Hall 1 tunes to the Gamer.FM DJs for a few special slots during the event.
Gamer.FM's JoeShow said,
"The team at Gamer.FM is really excited to be returning to epic.LAN for the second time
to provide you the best LAN entertainment that we possibly can offer! Expect to see some familiar competitions and give-aways as well as new fresh content and hopefully a chance to hear some of your favorite epic staff on the air!"
To launch the epic.SIX partnership, Winbar will be joining JoeShow on air as co-presenter on Wednesday 29th June at 7.00pm where they both will be taking your requests and questions about epic.LAN and gaming in general. Post your questions and requests on the forums and we'll get through as many as possible during the show.
Make sure you tune in at gamer.fm.
CSS players, it's time to get practising as the map list and rules for the epic.SIX £2000 Counter-Strike: Source Tournament are now available!
Following on from the successful epic.FIVE event, where we saw Rasta.Xd take the win over BBoMM, we're going to pretty much keep to a similar format, with a slight change to the map list adding in de_season to the pool, giving the following maps available to be picked by our tournament system:
The remainder of the rules can be found at on our CSS Tournament Pages and teams can also now sign up to the tournament itself.
The first of our fun tournaments has been announced and it's going to be Blur!
If you haven't played Blur before, basically imagine a cross between something like Project Gotham Racing and Mario Kart, and you come out with this crazy, but oh so shiny, result.
Race your way through a thrilling series of maps with your VW Scirocco taking on an M3 while a Ford Focus drops a series of land mines in front of you.
Exact tournament format to be confirmed shortly, but in the mean time Blur is available on Steam for just £19.99 and it's worth every penny!
We have another sponsorship announcement for you, and this time, we're proud to say we've achieved the impossible by getting a Scotsman to buy the drinks!
So at epic.SIX, we can confirm that as well as attending with their famous LAN shop, Kustom will be sponsoring the boat race, literally by getting the drinks in for the participants. So all you'll need to do is take part in the boat race!
The boat race is the ultimate test of the gamer. Two teams face off, each armed with a pint of their chosen (alcoholic) beverage. When the race starts, the first two opposing team members start their drink and as soon as the glass is empty it is placed upturned on the participants head, at this point the next team member starts their drink and it continues down the line until the whole team has finished their drinks.
The boat race will take place in the evening on the Saturday of the event after the quiz.
With epic.SIX closing in fast (under two months now!) it's time to turn our attention to our casual gaming timetable for the weekend.
epic.LAN regulars will know, we go to a lot of effort to run loads of activities during the weekend on PCs, consoles and even away from the computers like our pub quiz.
So, as usual, we want to hear from you about big games you'd like to see in our timetable as well as any fun tournaments you would like us to organise.
However, smaller games, particularly RTS style and social games such as Werewolves don't appear in our timetable, as they tend to just happen through the weekend and we don't want to schedule every minute of your LAN! So we build in plenty of time for you to do your own thing too!
